According to Hesiod’s Theogany, discussed in the opening contextual lectures for Symposium, women mean something quite different from men when they use the terms “love” and “sex”. In your essay, do the following:
1) With reference to Gaea, explain what women seek as the goal of their erotic desire.
2) With reference to Uranus, Cronos and Zeus, explain what men seek as the goal of their erotic desire
(For both 1 and 2, support your answers with examples from the story)
3) Explain why the Theogany a tragedy (again support your explanation with reference to the story)
